Use the "as of" date for competitive exam eligibility

UPSC, SSC, banking exams, and state PSC all have age limits calculated as of a specific reference date mentioned in the notification. UPSC CSE 2026 uses 1st August 2026 as the reference — you must be under 32 (general category) as of that date. Set the "as of" field in this calculator to the exam's cutoff date to check your eligibility precisely. Even one day over the limit means automatic disqualification. OBC candidates get 3 extra years (35), SC/ST get 5 years (37). Defence and ex-servicemen have their own relaxations — always verify from the official notification.
